Addressing the interconnection of our challenges

Ward 2’s challenges are complex and interconnected. Roads, housing, local businesses, and neighborhood life don’t exist in isolation. Solutions must address the root causes, not just treat the symptoms, to prevent creating new problems. Cam’s approach delivers practical, thoughtful, and systemic solutions that benefit every resident of Ward 2 and drive real progress.

Community

Strong communities are built on trust in each other and in their leadership. Maintaining that trust requires transparency, open communication, and accessibility — especially for residents facing challenges. I’m committed to being a councilor who is present and reachable, listening to those with urgent concerns, and working to make our neighborhoods safer and more supportive for everyone, including our unhoused residents. Living on North Street and moving through Ward 2 daily, I have a firsthand understanding of the issues that matter most. I believe leadership must be inclusive, straightforward, and of high integrity — focused on serving all residents fairly, without being swayed by outside interests.

Accessibility and Responsiveness

Everyone in Ward 2 has the right to be heard, listened to, represented, and responded to in a meaningful way. As your councilor, every call, text, or email goes directly to my personal phone and will not go unanswered. If a problem is solvable — we solve it. If it isn’t, you’ll receive a clear explanation and a plan for a new approach — full stop.

Community Safety and Comfort

Every resident deserves to feel safe and comfortable in their neighborhood. Traffic violations must be responded to consistently and timely so that they are deterred in the future. Comfort in the community is essential to culture, quality of life, and economic activity. No street should feel uncomfortable to walk on and proper enforcement of ordinances must be upheld to ensure this.

Integrity in Education

The future of Pittsfield and the central to trust in our community is our children. Every day they attend schools that must feel comfortable, safe, and fostering to them. Accountability and integrity in the school administration, teachers, and board must be upheld to the greatest ends. We must hold our schools, administrators, and board accountable. Our kids deserve classrooms that are safe, supportive, and focused on learning.

Economy

Our economy is the engine that powers every part of our community’s success. By fostering business growth, growing our consumer base, and creating a safe and engaging social and shopping scene for all ages, we build a downtown that supports residents and attracts visitors. Empowering all local industries to hire Pittsfield residents through supporting education and training program while removing barriers to employment ensures that economic progress benefits everyone. When our economy thrives, it unlocks opportunities across the city — from jobs and services to cultural attractions and community events.

Foster and Attract Business

In a city where economic development is a priority, no business big or small should struggle to integrate into the community. Bureaucratic process or restrictive taxes should not be a roadblock to emerging small businesses. Restricting circumstances like housing and facility availability must be addressed to allow larger businesses to move operations into Pittsfield to bring the jobs and revenue to sustain economic and job growth.

Jobs and Economic Activity

Economic success and activity of our city is directly tied to the income and quality of life of our residents. Jobs paying livable wages are required for this activity to be sustained and to grow. Programs and resources providing training and job preparation services need to be expanded and advertised to the community to ensure everyone has an equal opportunity to get these jobs.

Roads, Parks, and Maintenance

With city government comes taxes and with taxes come city services. While government is different from business, the products you pay for must be valuable for what you pay. Roads, parks, and our community must be safe, comfortable, and clean without fail. Anything less is a failure to deliver on the obligations the city has to the taxpayers that support it.

Real Solutions for Housing

Housing in Ward 2 remains a challenge for residents across all income levels. Costs continue to rise, vacancies persist, and homelessness remains a reality for too many. My approach focuses on stabilizing the market, making housing accessible, and ensuring all properties are utilized effectively.

We will restructure incentives to put vacant properties back into productive use, whether through rehabilitation programs, partnerships with developers, or temporary occupancy initiatives. New housing — both affordable and attractive — must be built strategically to meet the needs of residents across income levels and prevent displacement caused by rising prices. By tackling these issues systematically, we can stabilize housing costs, expand availability, and ensure that every current and future resident of Ward 2 has a safe, attainable place to call home.

Culture

Culture is the heartbeat of Pittsfield. It shapes our identity and brings people together. I’m committed to cultivating a vibrant cultural scene that celebrates our city’s diversity and creates a true sense of belonging and engagement for all residents. By empowering cultural leaders and businesses along with championing partnerships between businesses and community groups, we can build a calendar full of events that energize downtown and draw people of all ages. Together, we can create a culture that not only drives economic growth but fosters the Pittsfield community and social connection.

Empower Cultural Leaders

In my experience, the best events and activities come from cultural leaders who know the interests of their own sub-communities and have the vision to create an event that serves those interests. Many times what these leaders lack is the proper support and attention from their city leaders. It is my responsibility to ensure the path is clear of bureaucratic slow-downs or uncertainties to ensure these leaders can accomplish their vision for the better of the Pittsfield community.

Energize the Social Scene

The solution to retaining and engaging young consumers is by energizing the social scene and improving awareness of activities in Pittsfield. I will accomplish this through establishing a “Pittsfield Wiki” that would serve as the official and central source of information on events and activities available to all Pittsfield’s residents and visitors. This awareness paired with empowering business and cultural leaders to grow and create a safe atmosphere downtown will enable a vibrant social scene to grow.

Governing Culture

Essential to the proper operation and trust in our city government, consistent, fair, and responsive enforcement of city and state ordinances, procedures, and laws is required. No person, organization, or activity is to have any different scrutiny than any other and any enforcement of these regulations must be fair and timely. The culture of governing and enforcement in the city must be upheld as fair to all residents of Pittsfield and fair to our own policies we pass.

Taxes

Any time a new or expanded program is suggested, the first question a responsible councilor must ask is: “At what cost?” and next: “Will the benefits justify it?” There are countless ways to approach our city’s challenges, but not every approach delivers efficient or effective results for taxpayer dollars. As your councilor, I will only support expansions that are either backed by data to prove they’re worth every dollar, or that come with identified funding sources that do not increase the burden on taxpayers.

Fairness First

Too often, the weight of our tax system falls hardest on working families and seniors who can least afford it, while absentee landlords, neglected properties, or poor policy decisions add costs without accountability. Fairness means making sure no one group shoulders more than their share — and that the city stops asking residents to pay more while delivering less.

Protecting Families and Seniors

Families and seniors are the backbone of Ward 2 and deserve to be protected from unfair tax hikes. Seniors on fixed incomes should not be priced out of their homes, and families raising children should see their dollars go toward services and neighborhoods they can actually rely on. Protecting these groups is not just about shielding them from cost increases, but about ensuring they see clear, visible returns on every dollar they contribute.

Value and Results For Every Dollar

Residents deserve proof that their taxes are working for them. That means cleaner streets, safer neighborhoods, and better infrastructure — not bureaucratic waste or half-finished projects. I will push for stronger accountability on city spending and ensure taxpayer dollars are tied directly to results that residents can see and feel in their daily lives.

I’ve spent my career serving people in high-stakes situations, seeing firsthand what it takes to solve real problems and help communities thrive. Now, living in Ward 2, I bring that same dedication to our neighborhoods. I don’t just promise; I deliver. Every call, every street, every dollar counts, and I will ensure your voice is heard and your city works for you. Together, we can build safer neighborhoods, stronger schools, a thriving economy, and a vibrant community — all without overpromising or overtaxing the people of Ward 2. I’m ready to show up, get results, and lead with integrity. I hope to earn your trust and your vote.
